NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC CHANNEL UK AND FIVE RECOMMISSION SEA PATROL UK
London UK, 11th Feb 2010 - National Geographic Channel UK and Five have recommissioned the hit show Sea Patrol UK for a second series. The 8 x 60 series is produced by UK Indie, Wall to Wall and will get its UK premiere on National Geographic Channel this summer before rolling out internationally.
Season one secured strong ratings for National Geographic Channel UK, making it one of top rating series of 2009 for the channel. Consequently, this new series sees two more hours added to the run.
The series, now in production, follows the multi-agency enforcement team that regulates the English Channel - one of the world’s busiest shipping lanes - and surrounding waterways, all the way from Dover along the entire channel coast to Lands End.
On call 24/7 with nine agencies and teams including the RNLI, the Marine Police, the RAF helicopter search & rescue and two super tugs presiding over the Channel, Sea Patrol UK splashes into action documenting the high-risk operations necessary to keep the Channel safe.
Featuring daring rescues at sea to bomb disposal; policing of trawlers to dangerous cliff rescues and on operations with Customs “deep rummage” search teams and the Fisheries Protection Squad, this new season of Sea Patrol UK promises to feature even more fast-moving emergencies and stories the length of the English Channel.
Simon Bohrsmann, General Manager National Geographic Channel UK comments, “Sea Patrol UK series one proved that our viewers have an appetite for real-life tales of British marine rescue. This second series promises to be even more gripping, featuring high action incidents and the daily exploits of the unsung heroes regulating our coastline.”
Five’s Head Of Factual, Andrew O'Connell adds, “This series combines extraordinary characters with thrilling action in an eye-opening account of the work of these elite emergency teams, in the world’s busiest waterway.”
Sea Patrol UK is produced by Wall to Wall for National Geographic Channel UK and Five. Patricia O’Leary is Series Producer, Ralph Perring and David Howard are Series Directors and Guy Davies is Senior Executive Producer. Executive Producers are Simon Bohrsmann for National Geographic Channel and Andrew O'Connell for Five.
