ABOUT

OVERVIEW:

National Geographic Channels International (NGCI) provides smart, innovative television that questions what we know, how we view the world and what drives us forward. From the Earth’s most remote environments to the wonders of modern life, NGCI fuels our curiosity to learn more about the world around us through powerful storytelling, unrivalled imagery and unique access.

NGCI has entertained viewers with journeys to the very edge of the known universe; to South Africa to experience the thrill of lions on the hunt in real time; into murky ocean depths to unearth pristinely well-preserved ancient Byzantine ships; and inside the world’s most famous detention centre at Guantanamo Bay to offer a surprisingly intimate portrait at life behind the razor wire. The network also broadcasted live as one man secured his place in history, becoming the first person to fly across the English Channel using a single, jet-propelled wing. Through specials, series and live events, NGCI is at the forefront of exploration, taking viewers to the very edge of our understanding and pushing beyond to what we can only imagine.

NGCI supports and showcases the groundbreaking work of the Society which is home to cutting-edge scientists and explorers such as Robert Ballard, Paul Sereno, Zahi Hawass, Meave and Louise Leakey, Wade Davis, Johan Reinhard, Sylvia Earle, Dereck and Beverly Joubert, Spencer Wells, Michael Fay and Jared Diamond. In addition, the Channel is dedicated to developing new talent around the world and actively seeks regional partners to provide funds to young filmmakers. The resulting documentaries have been compiled into innovative strands such as Asia to the World and Reel Talent, and won top industry awards.
